<p>The High Court of Karnataka has issued a notice to the state government for filing a false complaint and charge sheet against a landlord.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Hearing a petition filed by Ashwatha Narayana Reddy, Justice K N Phaneendra stayed the proceedings in the trial court against him.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Hennur police had filed a complaint against Reddy, accusing him of letting his premises to foreign nationals whose visa had expired.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Reddy, however, contended that the foreign nationals were not his tenants and were only visiting their friends who were his tenants. He also said he had verified the details of his tenants.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also argued that the police do not have any authority under the Foreigners Act,1946, to investigate these matters.
