Boy killed in accident

A seven-year-old boy was killed after a truck hit the bike in which he was travelling with his mother near Doddakannehalli near Sarjapur Road on Wednesday.

According to the police, the deceased, Raunak, a first standard student at Insta Academy in Kaikondrahalli.He was residing in Kadubeesanahalli. His father Devendra works as a cab driver in Wipro company and his mother is a housewife. They are natives of Uttar Pradesh and had come to the city a few years ago.

Around 3 pm on Wednesday, Jyothi went to pick Raunak from school. Jyothi was riding the scooter while Raunak was riding pillion. As they reached Doddakannehalli, a truck came from the rear and hit the scooter. Raunak and Jyothi fell down and the front wheel of the truck ran over Raunak while Jyothi escaped with minor injuries, said the police.

The passersby alerted the HSR Layout traffic police and shifted the injured boy to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The public, who gathered at the spot, threw stones at the truck and damaged it completely. The truck driver fled the spot abandoning the vehicle. The police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob and efforts are on to trace the driver, the police added.

A case has been registered in HSR Layout traffic police station.
