DKS denies govt indulging in vindictive politics

Last Updated 23 November 2017, 13:49 IST

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar said on Thursday that the government was neither involved in vindictive politics nor was targeting any leader from the BJP or JD(S).

He said this while reacting to the statements by former energy minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje regarding the House committee report on power purchase.

Speaking to media persons here, he said the House committee had submitted its report and it was immature to say that leaders of the Opposition parties were being nailed in the report.

If there are any changes to be made to the report, the government is ready to do it. But the BJP is indulging in mudslinging and disrupting the House often. The session was held in Belagavi to discuss important issues pertaining to the north Karnataka region, but the BJP played spoilsport by staging protests, he said.

The Centre is not supplying coal for power generation in the required quantity. But to ensure that uninterrupted power was supplied to the people, the government had invited tenders to purchase coal blocks from other states. It was ready to purchase coal blocks at Rs 10 lakh per tonne, he added.
