West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said that Bengal would be proud to host the 'Padmavati' team if the producers decide to release the film in the state.

"If they (the producers of the film) cannot release 'Padmavati' in any other state in the country, then we will make special arrangements for its release in our state...Directory Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team are welcome," Mamata said at a conclave here.

The chief minister had on November 20 lashed out against the move to stall the release of the movie and had tweeted, "The controversy is not only unfortunate, but also a calculated plan of a political party to destroy the freedom to express ourselves. We condemn this super emergency. All in the film industry must come together and protest in one voice."

The producers of 'Padmavati' have deferred the release indefinitely following the controversy with Right-wing groups across the country.
