Transport Department officials in association with police on Saturday seized 13 contract carriage buses for violating permit conditions and have decided to recommend to the State Transport Authority to initiate action against them.
The bus owners have been directed to produce the original permits, which would be forwarded to the State Transport Authority for necessary action, including cancellation of permits if the owners were found violating the permits repeatedly, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic and Senior Regional Transport Officer (Mangaluru) G S Hegde told DH.
More than 50 buses traverse Mangaluru and other towns in the district, including Puttur, Uppinangady, Vittal and Belthangady. As per the permit conditions, contract carriage buses cannot ply to the State Bank area in the city.
