Agarwal slams another ton

Opener Mayank Agarwal created a record after becoming the first Karnataka player to score four consecutive centuries in Ranji Trophy.

Following scores of 304 not out, 176, 23 and 133 not out, the 26-year-old dashing batsman came into the game against Railways in the form of his life. And despite seeing his side being reduced to 19/3, Agarwal showed no fear whatsoever, plundering a superb counter-attacking 241-ball 173 (17x4, 1x6).

Agarwal thus surpassed legends Brijesh Patel, Roger Binny and Rahul Dravid as well as team-mate Karun Nair and former team-mate Robin Uthappa, who all had slammed three successive tons previously.

Agarwal also surpassed 2000 runs in the country's premier first class tournament, becoming the 33rd player from the State to do so. With Manish Pandey also hitting a century, Karnataka had reached 355 for six on the opening day.
