Writers in Mandya express outrage over 'fake' receipts

Last Updated 26 November 2017, 17:38 IST

Some writers vent their ire on the Mandya Kannada Sahitya Parishat district unit representative Ravikumar Chamalapura for alleged "irregularities" in collecting money and distributing fake receipts for participants of 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held in Mysuru.

Writer Krishna Swarnasandra alleged that fake receipts had been printed and distributed after collecting Rs 250 from each participant.

ODD kits not given

The participants had a tough time at the convention as they were not distributed the On Official Duty (OOD) certificate and kits. The incident has created embarrassment for the writers of the district, Swarnasandra said.

There was a lot of confusion on the premises and a police case has been registered.

A complaint has been lodged with Kannada Sahitya Parishad (KSP) president Manu Baligar who has assured to take suitable action, he said.

He also alleged that KSP district unit president Ravikumar Chamalapura had failed to accord a welcome to the 'Kannada Rath' that visited the district before the Sammelan.

Speaking to DH, Chamalapura refuted allegations and said that they had not printed or distributed any fake receipts. Only the receipts given by the Sahitya Parishat were issued, Chamalapura said.

"A few have been trying to bring disrepute to the district unit. The issue has been brought to the notice of the Sammelan's Welcome Committee. A clear picture will emerge in two days," Chamalapura said.
