Pothas slams Lankan players

Excerpts

On not producing the results in the middle: You hit the nail on the head. You can talk all you want to,  you can plan a lot but at the end of the day you've got to execute them. As a player your currency is runs, wickets and catches. You can do all you like but if you are not producing them, obviously there will be repercussions. That's the world of professional sport.

On the heaviest defeat: It's hugely disappointing because of the amount of work ethics that goes in behind the scenes. It's embarrassing. Players should be embarrassed with their own performances. Practicing in the 'nets' means nothing if you go out and not put runs on the board.

On Indian fast bowlers: They are in a position like this because they worked for a long time to ensure they got a strong bench. If you are going to be successful at the top of any sport, your bench is important and India has a very strong bench. Not only have they got pace but a huge amount of skill. It's the same with batting and bowling. It's all about execution.

On the message to the batsmen: There was a message. Whether I asked them to make 61 percent of (167 all out) them in boundaries, then no. When the percentage of your score is so high in boundaries against high quality attack, you are going to get into a lot of trouble. India for example, in a 610-run total, their boundary percentage was 37. That's how they got their runs. We are talking about the top batters in the world and if 37 percent is good enough for them, then it sure should be good enough for us.
