L&T to build second runway at KIA

Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) will build the second runway of the Kempegowda International Airport here.

The company on Monday officially announced bagging the Rs 1,358-crore contract from the KIA's operator, the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).

Besides the construction of a New South Parallel Runway (second runway), the contract includes building apron and associated works.

Taxiway systems, pavement, drainage works, ancillary buildings and associated infrastructure facilities are part of the contract. The project will be completed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.

An L&T release said the full project scope comprised building North Remote Stands, East Remote Stands, New South Parallel Runway, Cross Field Taxiway and an apron for the proposed Terminal 2.
