Complaints galore on civic issues at KDP meeting in Madikeri

Last Updated 28 November 2017, 17:39 IST

Row over disposal of waste, encroachment of burial ground, pothole-filled roads, poor quality of UGD works were discussed at length at the Madikeri taluk panchayat tri-monthly KDP meeting here on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by MLA K G Bopaiah.

Member Nagesh Kundalpady said Chembu, Sampaje and Peraje do not have burial grounds. The residents either bury in their own land or search for a burial ground. Reacting to it, Bopaiah said that a petition should be submitted to the Tahsildar after identifying government in the respective villages. The Gram panchayats should pass a resolution on the said land.

Roy Bopaiah of Galibeedu GP said RTCs were not distributed even after issuing title deeds. Maragodu GP President B Mohan said that the land earmarked for burial ground has been encroached upon.

The encroacher has cultivated coffee on the encroached land.

Even after bringing the issue to the notice of the Tahsildar, no action has been initiated to reclaim the land.

MLA Bopaiah said that Tahsildars, VA and revenue officers should not pose a hurdle for issuing NoC for constructing houses inside the estates. The officials should issue NoC for the construction of house and godown.
