Techie Couple file medical negligence complaint against Narayana Health

A couple has filed a medical negligence complaint against Narayana Health, Whitefield unit alleging that doctors showed normal pre-natal reports and failed to detect serious health complications that their baby was born with. In spite of several prenatal tests showing normal pregnancy, the couple's baby was born with heart disease and Down syndrome.

The couple Mahesh K K and Swetha RS are software engineers and residents of Channasandra. They alleged that the doctors and specialists conducted numerous tests during the antenatal check and said that everything was normal. But the couple was shocked when the baby was born on November 22 with down syndrome and congenital heart disease.

Swetha stated in her complaint to Kadugodi police that, from the beginning of her pregnancy, she was under medical supervision at Narayana Health and all the tests were conducted but doctors failed to detect the problem and told her that everything was normal and the baby was healthy.

Kadugodi police said that they received a complaint and have given an acknowledgement for the same. They have written to the Medical board seeking a legal opinion before filing an FIR. Based on the reply they will proceed following the amendments made to the Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Act, police said.
