Enforcement Directorate (ED) authorities on Friday conducted searches at the premises of former Union finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's family with regard to the Aircel-Maxis case.
ED sources here said that the raids which began in the morning, are being carried out at four places in Chennai and two in Kolkata. Searches were also conducted at Chidambaram's close relative S Kailasam's house in the city.
The raids are in connection with the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearances granted by Chidambaram during his tenure as Union Finance Minister in 2006 in the Aircel-Maxis case.
