A 28-year-old interior decorator committed suicide in North Bengaluru on Thursday, reportedly because he wasn't earning money as orders had dried up in the past two months.

Karthik is suspected to have hanged himself at his home on  Thimmaiah Street, Bovi Colony. At 1 pm, he had dropped his wife,  Ramya, at an apparel store on  BEL Road, Mathikere, where she works. He returned home and reportedly ended his life.

Around 9 pm, Ramya started calling him as he had failed to  pick her up. But he didn't respond. She then hailed a cab and reached home.  She knocked on the door, but there was no response. She peeped through the window and was stunned to find her husband hanging from the ceiling fan. She called neighbours and other members of the family.

The Basaveshwaranagar police, too, reached the spot after some time. A preliminary investigation showed that Karthik didn't get any orders in the past two months. He planned to open a hotel in Chennai but had no money.

Karthik had married Ramya, his classmate in school and college,  five years ago. Their  families, however, were opposed to the alliance.
