Actor Dilip Kumar tuns 95

Thespian Dilip Kumar, one of the greatest actors of Hindi cinema, turned 95 on Monday.

The family had a quiet birthday celebrations.

Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu tweeted the birthday plans of the actor who has been ailing for some time.  "On Dilip Saab's birthday, as we get together as a family with Saab's brothers, sisters, relatives and some close friends, my thoughts reach out to all the wonderful fans and well wishers for the duas and prayers for Dilip Saab. A million thanks," she tweeted using the actor's Twitter handle @TheDilipKumar.

"What are we planning for the birthday, I am being asked repeatedly. Well, for those who don't know what we have been doing every year - it's a day when our residence turns into a gorgeous fairyland with flowers and floral arrangements from loving visitors which means a lot....Every year on Saab's birthday our house is open all day for friends and family to come and spend quality time with Dilip Saab. But tomorrow  will be restricted as doctors have advised Saab to be protected from any infection," she said on Sunday.

The undisputed 'tragedy king', who has been described as "the ultimate method actor" by none other than the legendary Satyajit Ray, has delivered several hits.  Be it Devdas, Madhumati, Mughal-e-Azam, Ram aur Shyam, Naya Daur, Kranti or Shakti, he has left  his fans spellbound.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Bollywood baadshah Shah Rukh Khan, both, describe him as the "greatest actor ever".

With his looks, acting skills, dialogue-delivery “ he is not only idolised in India, but also across the world, where people see Indian films, including Pakistan.
