JOIN USMembers of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Retired Employees' Welfare Committee staged a protest in front of the HDMC commissioner's office here on Monday, seeking alms symbolically, demanding timely payment of their pension amount.
"Around 2,400 retired employees are depending on the pension amount, but there has been a delay in the payment of the pension amount since last three months. This month's pension is not yet paid. Every month, pension should be paid on the first itself," association president Sharishailappa Shettar said.
HDMC Pourakarmikara Sangha President Gangadhar Tagargunti also expressed support to the protesters.
HDMC Chief Accounts Officer S Mahantesh informed the protesters that the pension amount is ready for payment, and it would be paid after getting the signature of the HDMC commissioner who is on leave at present.
Shekhar Hubballi, Sharanappa Hosmani, Pandurang Shet, G G Mulgundmath, and others took part in the protest.
