Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda, on Monday, said he would defeat Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the upcoming elections and destroy his political career.

Addressing the JD(S) workers at a meeting, here, he alleged that Siddaramaiah neglected veteran leaders like A H Vishwanath, V Srinivas Prasad and Ambareesh, who worked for the success of the party. "Siddaramaiah tried to eliminate me from the cooperative sector. I will prove my ability in the next elections," he challenged.

He alleged that Siddaramaiah played a major role in the defeat of KPCC president G Parameshwara, so that he can become the chief minister. In the middle of the term, he handed over the Home Ministry to Parameshwara. Later, on the pretext of making him the KPCC president, he snatched the portfolio, he criticised.

He said, Siddaramaiah is enacting a new drama by saying, he became chief minister only because of his wife. "Has he ever been seen with his wife attending any meeting, function or programme?" he questioned.

Speaking on the occasion, JD(S) leader A H Vishwanath said, "The Congress has availed loans of crores of rupees during its tenure of five years now. Every resident of Karnataka has a burden of Rs 58,000 debt on him or her."
