JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Tuesday said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should convene an all-party meeting to curb the violence that has erupted in coastal Karnataka.

He said that the Congress and the BJP were provoking violence to gain political mileage.

"The government should fix this problem by either convening an all-party meeting or by bringing the law and order situation under control. When I could resolve the Idgah Maidan issue, the government too can sort out this issue," he added.

JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy too charged that the national parties were disrupting peace and harmony in the coastal districts.

The party is also organising an SC/ST convention at Palace Grounds, Bengaluru on Wednesday, where more than one lakh people are expected to participate.
