Muslims voluntarily participated in JD(S) convention: Revanna

MLA H D Revanna has said that a large number of people, belonging to the Muslim community, voluntarily attended the JD(S) minorities convention that was held in Tumakuru recently.

Reacting to a recent statement issued by former minister Zameer Ahmed that the JD(S) would have paid money to the Muslims to attend the convention, Revanna said on Tuesday that the JD(S) has not stooped to that level.

Addressing reporters here, Revanna said that it was not a mere crowd that had gathered for money as projected by the Congress party.

"When Zameer Ahmed planned for a minorities convention at Koratagere, it did not work. Only KPCC president G Parameshwar, who is from Tumakuru district, can clarify whether it was really cancelled," he said.

Revanna said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will support Zameer only till his designs are realised. "What will be his status if Siddaramaiah too abandons him?" he asked.

"Minority community leaders in the Congress party have no power. We have no objection even if the Congress takes all Muslim leaders into contract. We have already seen how the two national parties in the state are protecting the Muslim community people," he said.
