Constructed at a cost of Rs 2.97 crore, the second such facility for Indian Army was commissioned by Lieutenant General AK Nanda, Engineer-in-Chief and Senior Colonel Commandant, Corps of Engineers, during a brief ceremony.
German company Polytan Sportsstattenbau, which began the construction work in April 2008, completed the work last month.
Following 14 tests, FIH (international hockey federation) has given a Global Class I Category certification to the turf.
However, the authorities are yet to install floodlight facilities at the venue.
