Awareness programme on public safety held

Shree Devi Institute of Technology and Mangalore Chemical and Fertilisers Ltd, jointly organised a public awareness programme pertaining to public safety and environment at Kenjar campus.

The objective of the programme was to prepare people and make them aware of various methods that could be used in case of an untoward incident, be it industrial accidents or a natural calamity. The company's safety department demonstrated various safety equipment that could be used for prevention and mitigation of risks related to safety, health and environment. Students could touch, feel and experience equipment that is used by various mitigation teams during an untoward event.

Deputy Director Factories H S Narendra Babu spoke about the importance of safety in manufacturing and also spoke about the support from various government departments in an eventuality, he said.

Babu said that preparedness and alertness is the key to make people, property and resources safe from damages

MCF Director K Prabhakar Rao, along with a team of Joint general managers and General Managers, explained in detail about their operations and functionalities of various departments. They also highlighted the significance of updating farmers in terms of soil testing, usage of organic and inorganic fertilisers, side effects of pesticides etc.

The company also showed educational videos to students to spread awareness about various training programmes like mock drills and emergency systems that are incorporated in their organisation.
