Last Updated 21 December 2017, 16:49 IST

A week after taking over as party president, Rahul Gandhi is set to chair his first meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Friday.

The CWC, the top decision-making body of the Congress, is expected to deliberate on the party's performance in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections. Rahul is also likely to unveil his vision for the party.

After his election as Congress President, Rahul is also expected to announce his new team by holding elections to the 25-member body. The various committees constituted during the tenure of Sonia Gandhi, including the CWC, continue to function in ad hoc capacity pending re-constitution.

At the meeting on Friday, the CWC is also expected to discuss a programme to counter BJP propaganda on 2G spectrum case, which cost it the government in 2014. A decision on holding the plenary session is also expected to be discussed at the meeting.

Earlier, Rahul had chaired the meetings of the CWC in the absence of his mother Sonia Gandhi. Friday's CWC will he his first as Congress President.
