Students and faculty members of the Institute of Baking and Cakes (IBC) prepared 25 cakes for the annual cake show on Thursday.

The highlight of the show is a tribute to the newlywed celebrity couple- actor Anushka Sharma and cricketer, Virat Kohli. An 80-kilogram cake which replicates the wedding is five feet tall and five feet wide.

"We made the cake of the celebrity couple as they just got married and they have a huge fan following. We thought it would be fun to exhibit it at the show," said Avril Pinto, a faculty of IBC. She added that it was made in five days with five different kinds of sugar, edible butter, royal icing among other ingredients.

The cake show also exhibited 25 cake structures like the Gateway of India, a mermaid, dinosaurs, a castle, and various animals. Indian Doli (palanquin), weighing 145 kilos, was also a crowd-puller.

Gautham Agarwal, who is a part of the National Consumer Fair which organised the event said that the event has always been a popular one attracting a huge crowd.

The cake show that will continue until January 1 is being organised for the last 43 years. Every year, students and faculty spend around four months to make the cakes in preparation for the show.
