Wide protests held to decry gang rape, murder of school girl

Members of various organisations in Mysuru region staged a protest against the gang rape and murder of a Dalit teenage girl in Vijayapura.

In Mysuru, members of Dalit Sangarsh Samiti (DSS) and members of All India Democratic Youth Organisation protested against the gang rape and murder of a school girl in Mysuru on Thursday. Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha (BVS) staged a protest near the Deputy Commissioner's office and the members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP), Social Democratic Party of India, Students Federation of India, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest near Hemavathi Statue in Hassan and also submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner B R Poornima demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

Similarly, the members of Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha and ABVP took out a separate protest in Chamarajanagar. The members also took out a protest march in the city.

In Mandya, members of various organisations staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office and demanded justice. They also urged the state government to provide additional compensation for the family members of the victim. Leaders C Kumari, M V Krishna, M B Srinivas, Shambuhalli Suresh and others were present.
