Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said that the BJP does not believe in decentralisation of power. They want to secure power in the GP levels too, he added.

Siddaramaiah said that the BJP government is thinking about forming a vigilance committee to monitor the functioning of GP members. “If vigilance committees were formed in GPs, it will become rehabilitation centres for RSS workers. Interfering in GP’s functioning will be disgrace to the Constitutionally elected members,” he charged.

Talking about the power crisis in the State, Siddaramaiah alleged that the State government did not take initiative to hand over land for Centre’s thermal power project in Bijapur. The State does not achieve the target in power production prescribed in the five year plans.

Coutering BJP leaders’ allegations of Central government showing discrimination with regard to power supply to the State from Central grid, Siddaramaiah questioned Yeddyurappa and the former Energy Minister Eshwarappa for not uttering a single word when Union Energy Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde visited Bangalore. “If the Central government was showing discrimination, why Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa kept their mouth shut when Shinde visited Bangalore,” he lashed. The government is presenting wrong facts and figures with regard to power crisis before the public, he added.

B’lore terrrorists’ target

Siddaramaiah warned that Bangalore City has become a target for terrorists. “It is ridiculous that Home Minister V S Acharya has found bookie’s hand in the recent blast during IPL match in Bangalore. Acharya neither knows anything about Police Department nor on Vigilance Department,” he charged. It was due to the intelligence failure that the blast occurred in Bangalore. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Home Minister V S Acharya should own the responsibility for the intelligence failure, he added.  Further, talking about the mining scam related to Reddy brothers, Siddaramaiah alleged that since Yeddyurappa himself is involved in the mining scam, he is not daring to ask resignations from Reddy brothers. DCC President B Ramanatha Rai, MLAs Abhaychandra Jain, U T Khader, Congress Leaders Ivan D’Souza and Ahmed Bava were present.
