Ten arrested for chain-snatchings

The police have arrested 10 persons, who were involved in around 20 chain-snatching cases across the district.

Seven of them are said to be from Mysuru district. They are Shivamma and Somesh of Belawadi, Ashwini and Lakshmamma of Halli Bogadi, Bhagya of Bogeshwara Colony, Venkatesh of Bilikere, Prakash of Hootagalli and three others.

Police have recovered 850 gm gold ornaments worth Rs 24 lakh, one vehicle and mobile phones from them.

The police, on patrol, found four people moving in a suspicious manner near Mathi Thaleshwaraswami temple on December 18 and took them into custody. Upon inquiry, they spilled the beans.

Chain-snatching cases have been registered against them at Malavalli rural, KR Pet, Bellur, Shivalli, Maddur, Belakawadi and Mandya East Police stations, it is said.
