They have written to the Union  External Affairs Ministry  to trace their son, who was working as a mechanical engineer at the company’s Mumbai office.

A resident of Vidyuth Nagar in Hassan, Nivedan Prakash, son of Lilly and ex-army man Victor, was sent to China from Saudi Arabia  on March 30.

“Nivedan had spoken to us after reaching China on April 9. He also contacted us on April 14, just before he left China in the vessel,” Lilly said. “Also, he had informed that he would contact us on reaching India. He seemed very cheerful,” she added. However, the family was shocked when they received a phone call on April 17 from one of the officers on board the vessel.  When Nivedan’s father Victor probed he was told that their son had gone missing.

Suspecting foul play, the family tried to gather information from the company officials but to no avail. Even after three days of the incident, the family is still unclear about what elapsed on board the vessel.
