BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday accused the ruling Congress of not making any effort to convince its party leaders in Goa on resolving the Mahadayi issue.

Goa Congress chief Shantaram Naik said his party was opposed to parting with Mahadayi water to Karnataka for drinking water purpose. The Goa Congress has also said it is against an out-of-court settlement on the issue. This shows that Karnataka Congress leaders are not making effort to find an amicable solution to the inter-state water sharing dispute, she told reporters.

Leaders of both the national parties had agreed to convince their respective party leaders to come for talks. While the BJP in Karnataka led by B S Yeddyurappa has kept its word, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not made any effort to convince Congress leaders in Goa, she charged.

Instead, both the chief minister and Water Resources Minister M B Patil are nitpicking and talking lightly of the BJP's effort to convince Parrikar on the issue. "Goa agreeing for talks is a big step forward. The state BJP will continue its efforts to find an early solution," she assured, and demanded that the Congress high command should clarify its stand on the issue.

The BJP leader also urged farmers, who were staging a dharna in front of the state BJP office in Malleswaram seeking an early resolution of the Mahadayi issue, to withdraw their protest and join hands with Yeddyurappa in his efforts.

Dares CM to arrest her

Shobha hit out at the Siddaramaiah-led government for not taking action against 'jihadis' and dared the chief minister to arrest her. The police have registered an FIR against her for inflammatory tweets on the rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Vijayapura recently. "The government is turning a blind eye to jihadis who are murdering Hindus. Instead of taking action against them, the government is systematically burying all these cases," she charged.
