File case against MLA Sait: VHP

Last Updated 23 December 2017, 16:22 IST

Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) has urged the government to withdraw cases booked against Hindu workers, in connection with the violence in Belagavi, and to file criminal case against MLA Firoz Sait for allegedly pressurising the police to arrest only Hindus and not Muslims.

VHP regional organising secretary Gopal told media persons here on Saturday that innocent Hindu workers are being tortured, instead of taking action against real culprits. In Uttara Kannada district also, protesters who condemned the alleged murder of Paresh Mesta were tortured on the model of British Raj, he said.

"Due to the Muslim appeasement policy of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, 'Love Jihad' cases are increasing. As part of the government's move to suppress Hindu organisations, Goonda cases are booked against more than 700 Hindu workers in the State in last four-and-a-half years," he noted.

Police should file treason charges against the Mutavalli who likened Ganeshpet in Hubballi with Pakistan, while police officer Dawoodkhan who was present there should also be suspended from service, Mr Gopal added.

Govardhan Rao, Sanju Basadaskar, and others were present.
