Deputy Commissioner M K Srirangaiah directed the CMC officials to supply water to industries as per the agreement between the CMC and KIADB.

Presiding over the district industries meeting on Tuesday he said that the CMC had inked a pact with KIADB in 2008 to provide water to the Ambale industrial area. The necessary measures must be undertaken to supply water, he said.

CMC Executive Engineer Manjunath said that a land will be earmarked by the CMC to construct a pump house at Muguluvalli. The construction work will be done by KIADB. Four MLD water should be supplied from Hirekolale lake. But only two MLD water is currently available. As there is a shortage of water a resolution was passed in the CMC general meeting to restrict the supply of water to industries.

The DC said that he will issue an order to CMC to provide water to industries as per requirements.

A KIADB officer said the water requirement for the Ambale industrial estate is 22 MLD. But 11 MLD water is supplied currently. 17 bore wells have been drilled in the industrial estate while water has been found in only seven.

Chamber of Commerce President Parameshwarappa has asked for basic facilities to be provided to industries. "The industries pay 35% taxes annually. Growth in the industrial sector will lag behind if the basic facilities are not available.

"Industrial sector has invested Rs 1500 crore in banks of the district. But the banks have provided only Rs 30 crore loans towards the establishment of industries in the district so far. The district Lead Bank should order the banks to compulsorily provide loans to industrialists," he said.

District Industries Department Joint Director R Ganesh requested the district administration to clear the encroachment in the land earmarked for the airstrip.

Zilla Panchayat CEO C Satyabhama said that as the grants released by the Sports Department for the maintenance of Subhash Chandra Bose district playground is inadequate, industrialists should come forward to maintain the stadium.

District Small Industries Association President Munir Ahmed, Karnataka Small Industries Association office-bearer S Vishweshwaraiah, Horticulture Department Assistant Director Poornima and district Lead Bank Manager Prashanth Desai were present.
