A rally and procession from the city railway station to the Freedom Park on Friday morning by thousands of activists brought traffic to a grinding halt on roads around the place.
Nearly 3,000 protesters representing several organisations paraded along the roads clogged with vehicles, as they agitated against the Justice A J Sadashiva commission report on internal reservation quota.
Police blocked traffic on Anand Rao Circle to allow the procession to reach the Freedom Park, as they diverted vehicles through adjacent roads.
Dalita Rakshana Vedike president Ramakrishnappa told the gathering that the report would deprive hundreds and thousands of Dalits belonging to a host of sub-castes within the community and asked the government not to implement it. Agitators also submitted a memorandum to the government against the report's implementation.
