'Give suitable compensation to people displaced by projects'

Nearly 80 acres of land is said to be submerged in Yaragol due to the project.  The residents later submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner R S Peddappa.

The Deputy Commissioner had served a notice on March 20 with regard to the land acquisition, said residents who demanded a minimum of Rs 6 lakh compensation per acre of land.

Vacant land demanded

They demanded vacant land in other survey numbers in Banganattam, Yaragol and Venkatapura villages which were outside the purview of project as compensation. New houses should be constructed for people losing their houses and temple should be shifted to other place, they added.

Kedara Rao, S Ganesh, G Chandroji Rao, Ranoji Rao, Eshwar Rao, Subbaramaiah, Eshwar Rao, Narayan Rao and others took part in the dharna.

The residents also submitted a copy of the memorandum to Additional District Commissioner S N Gangadhariah.
