Going all natural

Since 2017 ended on a 'high' note quite literally, with bold, blingy party looks, let's take a peak into what 2018 has in store for us in terms of make-up and beauty. For the skin, the trend continues to move towards a more natural look. The aim is to project a non-shiny, sheer skin.

Here are the expected beauty trends of the year:

For foundations, go for matte ones. A simple, natural-looking flawless finish will be in vogue this year.

A glowing skin, created with highlighters, will be in. Leave out the glitter as far as highlighting is concerned, but use the highlighter on the high points of the face, like cheekbones, brow bones. Go for a neutral and natural blush, to emphasise the highlighted areas of the face.

Dramatic red lipsticks will become a must-have. For a day look, go for reddish shades that move towards pink, or try fuschia or coral red. For the night, wear a red that has a heavier finish. Chocolate browns will make you look ramp-ready and yet, at the same time, you can sport nude shades and still look trendy. A sheer shade is good for the day.

Black-lined or kohl-rimmed eyes continue to be in and so is the liquid eyeliner. In fact, liquid eyeliner is best to give your eyes a dramatic finish. Try a grey or brown eye shadow and apply a line of black eye liner close to the lashes on the upper lid, for that extra bit of oomph.

Smokey eyes are still trendy, but now coloured shadows will be in rage, instead of the standard black. You can a touch of glitter for gala nights. Long eyelashes will become a must-have for those looking to dazzle with their eyes.

Long hair has been the look in 2017, with natural waves and curls cascading down to the tip. But now, poker straight hair may make comeback. The retro look, with straight hair and a middle parting, can amp your style.

The classic ponytail has been dictating trends for some time now. A ponytail is actually an easy hairdo. A high ponytail will be trendy, with part of the hair wound around it. With ribbons or other hair accessories, a ponytail can provide a touch of glamour.

Who said braids are outdated? Micro plaits are in fashion now. Pulling the hair up in a bun is also in vogue. Long hair may be put up too, in a casual knot or braided styles. These styles are suitable for parties or night outs.
