All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) vice-president T Narasimhan said on Sunday that the Union government has been neglecting the working class by following anti-worker policies. He said Anganwadi workers will stage a nation-wide protest on January 18 to oppose the anti-worker policies of the Centre.

Addressing a gathering during the 35th conference organised by the All India Railway Mail Service, Mail Motor Services Employees' Association and other organisations here, Narasimhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been neglecting the working class since BJP came to power in 2014. The government is not ready to address the problem faced by employees, he alleged.

Pointing out that the problems of the working class were being discussed even during the British rule, Narasimhan said that the Union government has no concern for the working class. The government is snatching the rights of the employees, he said.

Only seven per cent of the working class enjoy all the facilities, while the remaining 93%, who are in the unorganised sector, are deprived of benefits like PF, ESI and others, he said.

C C Pillay, Charles Lobo, Griraj Singh and others were present.
