JOIN USThe National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) and GAIL (India) Limited will conduct GAIL Indian Speed star season 3, a selection process of sprinters from 29 states of the Nation. The aim is to promote their participation in 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
Addressing reporters here on Monday, NYCS GAIL-Indian Speed star season 3 state convener Ramesh K said that its objective is to identify and encourage young athletes of the country.
The selection process
The events for which the selections will be conducted are 100m, 200m and 400m. The participants should be between the age group of 11 to 17 years.
Shortlisted athletes from each district will attend a two-day zonal camp prior to the zone level trials. Those shortlisted from the zonal trials will go through an intensive national camp before the final national selection is held. Winners selected purely on the basis of their benchmark meeting performances will receive extensive training throughout the year.
The district selections will be held in Mangaluru zone comprising of Mangaluru, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Davanagere and Chitradurga. The selection will be held at Mangala Stadium on January 20 at 8 am. Candidates should bring their photos and copies of birth certificate and Aadhar card. The application forms have been sent to schools. The filled applications may be submitted at MIFT College Office, Attavar KMC Hospital.

Coaching, foreign training, physiotherapy, mental conditioning and other support services will be provided to the selected candidates.
Selected candidates
He further said that 110 and 124 students have been selected throughout the country in the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively. Among them, 14 will take part in the upcoming Olympics. They will attend a one-month training camp starting from January 25 in Jamaica under the guidance of Usain Bolt.
