Bengalureans are feeling the heat as days are getting warmer with each passing day. The change in weather patterns meant Saturday was a lot hotter than the past five days.
An India Meteorological Department (IMD) official attributed the change to a clear sky as the sun shone brightly. "It's normal for the temperature to increase by two or three degrees. But a 5-degree increase will be alarming," the official said, requesting anonymity.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was 31 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees Celsius above normal. The minimum temperature was 17.6 degrees, which is also above the normal of 16 degrees. A similar increase can be expected in the coming days due to reduced winds, the IMD official added.
Climate change, increased pollution and reduced green cover in the city also contribute to the abrupt changes in weather.
