Unable to bear mother's death, youth ends life

A youth in Vajamangala village on Bannur Road in the taluk, committed suicide, following the death of his mother, in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Sathish (29), who owned a tea shop in Chikkalli on T Narsipur Road, hung himself from the ceiling of his house in Vajamangala. His mother Rathnamma (45), who was hospitalised, following some illness, died in the hospital on Monday late night.

As soon as he learnt about the death of his mother, Sathish recorded a two and a half hour video on his mobile phone, expressing his love for his parents and the grief of separation. His father also had committed suicide by jumping into the Varuna Canal, a few years ago.

Even though Sathish was a graduate, he was running a tea shop. He used to take good care of his mother. When his mother underwent Angiogram and the doctors prescribed only liquid food for some time, he also fasted, said his brother-in-law Nagaraju.

Both Sathish and his mother were cremated on the same pyre in the village on Tuesday itself.
