Police on Thursday arrested a seventh standard girl student for allegedly stabbing a seven-year-old child, student of the same school,  on the campus here on Tuesday.

The principal and manager of Brightland School in the state capital were also arrested in connection with the incident, police sources said.

The attacker was produced before a juvenile court here, which sent her to a reform home at Barabanki.

The arrested student had stabbed the child several times inside the toilet of the school as she wanted the school to close for the day, sources said.

The kitchen knife used in the crime has been sent for forensic examination, sources said, adding that some hair strands were also recovered from the crime scene and were sent for forensic examination.

Police said that the girl had concealed the knife in the toilet. The cops also said that the girl had earlier been counselled after she had displayed unstable mental behaviour.

The child, who was said to have suffered several stab wounds, has been admitted to the medical college hospital here.
