3-day gaming event kick-starts in city

The India Gaming Show South 2018 began on Friday at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).

The gaming and virtual reality (VR) experience zone was the attraction of the three-day event, which was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

People thronged to play Virtuix Omni, a virtual reality game where players can walk, run, or jump 360 degrees.  

According to the organisers, Omni is the world's most compact VR platform.

Rajan Navani, president, CII India Digital Gaming Society, said: "At this show, you'll get to play the latest games, using some of the best hardware. Gaming contests are also being organised, and some talented  gamers are expected to be part of the event."

"India has about 100 million gamers, and the country is seeing a huge growth in the gaming industry," he said.

Some of the top participants were Sony PlayStation, Dell gaming, gigabyte, Jetsynthesys and hyperX, among others.

Sachin saga  

The Sachin Saga Cricket Champions game, based on Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar,   organised a competition for the visitors.

"The Sachin Saga Cricket Champions, which was launched recently, has become one of the most downloaded games on Google Play. It got two million downloads in less than a month of its launch. It has become a huge hit among cricket fans, too," said Navani.
