BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday that Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has abysmally failed in maintaining law and order in the state.

Addressing party workers during the Navakarnataka Nirmana Parivarthana Yatre in Suttur, Nanjangud taluk, Yeddyurappa said as many as 3,515 farmers committed suicide in the last four years. "According to the official information provided by the government itself for a Cabinet meeting, 6,521 murders, 19,382 sexual assault cases have been reported and 4,759 girls have gone missing," he said.

The state government has gone bankrupt. The milk producers have not been paid incentives for the past eight months. There is no money to pay compensation even for their last rites. There are 67 criminal cases against Siddaramaiah. He is trying to get a clean chit from the investigation agencies," he said.

BJP state vice president V Srinivas Prasad alleged that Siddaramaiah had "finished" off all Dalit leaders in the state. "Who was behind the defeat of G Parameshwar in the last elections? I will ensure that Siddaramaiah does not win from Chamundeshwari, T Narasipur or any other constituency," he challenged.

People should give a befitting reply to the arrogance of Siddaramaiah by defeating him in the elections, he said.

Union Minister D VSadananda Gowda said Siddaramaiah, who took a padayatra to Ballari against illegal mining, had encouraged illegal mining after coming to power. Even though there is sufficient water in the dams, it is not being released for agricultural activities, he alleged.

Yeddyurappa also addressed a large gathering as part of the Parivartana Yatre at KR Nagar, Hunsur and Periyapatna. The rally will reach Madikeri on Wednesday.
