ZP member demands MLA's arrest

Accusing Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar of attempting to create communal hatred in Bantwal, Zilla Panchayat member and KPCC secretary Mamata Gatty has urged the government to arrest the MLA.

Addresing mediapersons at the District Congress Committee office in Mangaluru on Wednesday, she alleged that the MLA provoked communal feelings by stating that it is a war between Allah and Rama. A case has been filed against him. The MLA should be arrested soon, she said.

Provocative speech by the MLA is an attempt to create unrest in the district. Sunil Kumar has given the statement in public which is anti-constitutional, Gatty said. "When elections are nearing, BJP leaders are encouraging strikes in the state, as per the orders of BJP national president Amit Shah. BJP is sure that Congress will come to power in the state once again. Therefore the BJP leaders are carrying out petty politics, as there is nothing to state against the state government's development oriented rule," she said.

People of Bantwal know whom to elect. Minister B Ramanath Rai has carried out lot of development works in Bantwal and has been elected six times. The people do not need any counseling from BJP.
