Tension prevailed at Anchepalya near Nelamangala after a speeding car belonging to the Nithyananda Ashram hit a two-wheeler on Saturday. An angry mob tried to thrash the car driver, accusing him of driving recklessly.

According to the police, Ramachandra and Lakshmikant were riding a motorcycle when a speeding Ford car knocked them down. Car driver Naveen drove away instead of stopping to help the bike riders. Another biker chased the car for about one and half km and stopped it near a signal. He found actor Ranjitha, Nithyananda's disciple, in the car along with five male disciples.

Soon, the injured bikers also reached the spot and tried to thrash driver Naveen. The highway patrol police who came to know about the incident, rushed to the spot. Naveen was arrested on charges of reckless driving, while Ranjitha and others were allowed to proceed in another car. The police said she was heading to the airport from the Bidadi ashram.
