<p>An attempt to rescue a bird at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden on Sunday proved costly for a 20-year-old youth as he fell from a tree and sustained multiple injuries.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Vishal, who sustained multiple fractures, was shifted to the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Jayanagar for surgery.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Siddapura police said Vishal, a resident of Wilson Garden, noticed an eagle entwined in the strings of a kite and was struggling to escape. Despite his friends' warning, Vishal climbed the tree to save it, and a branch broke. He fell to the ground from a height of 20 feet.</p>.<p class="bodytext">His friends rushed him to hospital, and the fire and emergency services personnel rescued the bird.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"Fortunately, there is no damage to his nervous system. However, he needs surgery," said Dr Chandrashekar H S, director of the Sanjay Gandhi institute.</p>
