Mega kitchens ready to serve 1L people a day at Mastakabhisheka

The Mahamastakabhisheka celebration committee is all set to serve food to more one lakh devotees everyday, during the 20-day Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola, scheduled to start on February 7.

While the food will be served only to pass holders between February 7 to 17, all the devotees will be served breakfast, food and dinner from February 17 to 26. To prepare food, as many as 17 kitchens have come up and 120 cooks will prepare food in each kitchen. In addition, the authorities will depute sufficient staff to serve food for 10,000 devotees at each kitchen.

Ahead of the Mahamastakabhisheka, devotees from different parts of the country are offering a large quantity of food items. According to Vinodh Kumar Bakliwak, food committee president, the authorities have received 667 tonnes of food items from devotees. A large number of devotees from different parts of the state are sending truckloads of food items such as rice, wheat and ragi.

"South Indian food will be served on all the days. We are prepared to serve food for any number of devotees on a given day," he said.

Prez visit on Feb 7

President of India Ram Nath Kovind will visit Shravanabelagola to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Mahamastakabhisheka of the 58-foot monolithic statue of Bahubali atop the Vindhyagiri here on February 7. He will reach the town at 10.20 am and take part in the ceremony at 10.45 am.
