'Stop polluting river Phalguni'

Releasing sewage into storm water drains that join Phalguni river in Mangaluru City Corporation should be stopped immediately.

A press release from MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer said that the MCC has noticed a few households releasing sewage directly into the stormwater drains. The MCC has also received complaints of cesspool tankers that collect sewage from septic tanks and leach pits in rural areas engaged in releasing sewage on the banks of river Phalguni. All the cesspool tanker owners have been asked to stop the release of waste into the river.

The commissioner also warned of initiating strict action under KMC Act 1976 against those who pollute nature and its water bodies.
