In a complaint to the Jayanagar police, Chandra Uppar, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, stated that 12 people applied for driver badges through various driving schools. The minimum qualification for the licence is high school pass. The documents submitted by the applicants have turned out to be fabricated. This is the first time such a racket has come to light, he added. The Jayanagar police on Wednesday booked the 12 people for cheating and forgery and summoned the heads of driving schools for questioning.
According to Uppar, officials have been instructed to toughen the verification process to avoid possible irregularities.
