<p>St Aloysius College has been selected for the second phase of programme renamed as 'Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme' on Fermentation and Bio-processing'. Interested students can apply for the same.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Addressing reporters in Mangaluru, St Aloysius College Principal Fr Dr Praveen Martis said that the Biotechnology Finishing School (BTFS) is a programme supported by the Government of Karnataka's Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology. The objective of the programme is to provide industry specific skills to students.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As part of the programme, the Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Biotechnology of the college provides opportunities in the field of fermentation and bio-processing domain. The students will be trained on fermentation, upstream and downstream processing, production/manufacturing, quality control/quality assurance and facility management and applications of fermentation. In addition, regulatory requirements of different countries and CGMP requirements for the production area of bio-pharmaceuticals will also be covered.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Trainee graduates in the past five years have 100% internship placement with over 80% job placements in various companies, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The one-year course is divided into academic training of six months and a six-month internship in industries by industry experts and in-house faculty experts followed by a fellowship of Rs 10,000 per month.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Eligible candidates must have a Bachelors/Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bio-informatics or any other Life Science related courses or BE/BTech in Biotechnology or Bio-informatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Agriculture and Veterinary or four-year degree course in any branch of Life Sciences with a minimum of 50% marks. 50% of the seats are reserved for resident students of Karnataka.</p>.<p class="bodytext">February 10 is the last date to apply online.
