More trees uprooted, vehicles damaged

The rain also caused concern to many who were packing off for the weekend while many offices wore a deserted look much before their closing hours as the employees had left early expecting the rain. At least five trees were uprooted in different places and six motorcycles were damaged as an uprooted tree fell on them next to the aquarium near Cubbon Park. Besides, a car was damaged in Jayanagar East End 9th Block.

In R T Nagar 2nd Block, two trees were uprooted due to rains in the evening. No damage was reported.

A house was damaged when a tree fell on it in Doddagubbi, Kothanur whereas another tree had fell on Sampige Road in Malleswaram 18th Cross. In Bamboo Bazaar, Shivajinagar, a tree fell in front of the Shell Petrol Pump. But, no was injured in the incident. M G Road and the surrounding areas in the Central Business District experienced hailstorm and thundershowers.

According to a duty officer at the Meteorological Department, only a few areas experienced the hailstorm. Interestingly, however, the Meteorology Department's observatory didn't notice the hailstorm. Till 8:30 pm, the City received 11.8 mm rainfall whereas the airport received 1.1 mm rain.

The officer said rain may continue even on Sunday evening and thunderstorm may continue to lash for another three to four days.

The State's interior parts are also likely to receive scattered rain. There will be isolated rain and thundershowers in northern and southern regions of the State.
