A clash erupted between Congress and JD(S) workers at Gejjagalli village under Chamundeshwari Assembly segment when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yathindra visited the village to lay the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 15 lakh.

As soon as Yathindra visited the village, JD(S) workers opposed and staged a protest alleging violation of protocol. Heated arguments between the party workers then escalated into a clash. However, police intervened and brought the situation under control.

Gram panchayat member Lokesh was injured in the melee. JD(S) party workers alleged that the police assaulted Lokesh. Following the incident, JD(S) workers, including MLA G T Devegowda, sought the suspension of the police personnel who assaulted the member and staged a protest in front of the SP's office.

JD(S) workers alleged that though the village comes under Chamundeshwari constituency represented by JD(S) MLA G T Devegowda, the development works are being inaugurated by Yathindra, who is nowhere connected with the constituency. As the CM is planning to contest from the segment, he is misusing power, they alleged.
