JOIN USA campaign to clean and beautify the city has begun and it looks hopeful.
The first day of the Clean Bengaluru Campaign was kicked off with many officials removing posters and debris on roads.
While several corporate companies came forward to clean the city, not many residents were seen participating to clean Namma Bengaluru.
Inaugurating the first day of the campaign near Hebbal flyover, Bangalore Development and Town Planning Minister, K J George said that it is not just our responsibility but our duty to keep the city clean.
Corporate houses such as the Embassy group, Brigade group and NGOs like The Ugly Indian and members of resident welfare associations (RWAs) participated in the campaign.
George along with Mayor R Sampath Raj, Deputy Mayor Padmavathi Narasimhamurthy, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad, special commissioner of finance, Manoj Rajan participated in the campaign and cleaned the space near the Hebbal flyover.
Prasad said,"We have divided 1,000 km length roads into a total of 324 roads across all zones. Not only does this campaign aim to remove the debris that has been lying on the road for years but also to beautifying the spots."
Commenting on the campaign, Shaina Ganapathy, Head of Community Outreach at Embassy said,"We have fixed 62 spots in Nagavara and Domlur areas and we will ensure that the stretch from Hebbal Flyover towards Embassy Manyata Business Park is regularly cleaned and beautified."
The members of Ugly Indian cleaned and painted the area below the Hebbal flyover and few other areas and turned it into spotless space. Some resident groups were unaware of the campaign yet.
While debris will be dumped at the Bellandur quarry, the wet garbage will be dumped at all processing plants across the city. The campaign will go on until March 3, 2018.

New set of uniforms for pourakarmikas
Speaking at the campaign, George has promised that all pourakarmikas will receive a new set of uniforms and pushcarts from next week. He also said that they will be provided with masks and gloves.
Criminal charge against garbage dumping
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad has circulated a notice stating that people who are found dumping garbage in all those areas which have been newly cleaned will be penalised and a criminal case will be registered against them.
