With the support of BJP, V M Vijaya who got elected to ZP with Congress ticket was elected as President. He was supported by independent member H S Ashok and JD(S) member H B Ganesh. However, now both of them have been identifying themselves with Congress and are ready to move no confidence motion against them, said available sources.

In a secret meeting held in a resort in ZP member V P Shashidhar’s constituency on Sunday, the decision on no confidence motion was taken. It is said that signatures were also collected to move no confidence motion against ZP President and Vice-President.

If BJP administration comes to an end in ZP, then Congress has agreed to support the candidature of Independent member H S Ashok for the President’s post. As the post of president is reserved for BCM (A) category, the reservation will not come in the way of Ashok becoming President. For the post of Vice-President the name of Congress candidates Humayun Begum and Bhanumathi is being heard. Ashok and H B Ganesh became rebel for neglecting them while distributing funds for the drinking water projects. V M Vijaya came to power seven months ago. As per the norms, no confidence motion can not be moved against a President within six months of coming to power. Now the stage has been set to put down the President and hectic activities have already begun.

Kodagu Zilla Panchayat has 29 members. To move no confidence motion, simple majority is enough. With the support of Ashok and H B Ganesh, the Congress will have 15 seats. As a result, to move no confidence motion, there will be no shortage of quorum, said a Congress member.

Congress member V M Vijaya was elected as Zilla Panchayat President on September 11, 2009. After the term of ZP former president Deerghakeshi Shivanna ended, Congress member S N Rajarao was elected as the in-charge member for two months.
